Ms. Heather Davidson
Gender | Female |
Designation | EdM, MA, LPC, CST |
Short biography | I received my Ed.M. & MA in counseling psychology from Columbia University in 2010. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the states of Pennsylvania and Texas, and an out-of-state telehealth Licensed Mental Health Counselor for the state of Florida. I am an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist and Sex Therapist Supervisor. I am also an EMDR certified therapist through the EMDR International Association, and a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Professional with Postpartum Support International. I have completed post-graduate training programs in couples and sex therapy, and infertility counseling. I work with individuals and couples navigating pelvic/sexual pain conditions, infertility, low sexual desire, sexual functioning concerns, trauma (including birth trauma, medical trauma, traumatic loss of a loved one, attachment trauma, sexual trauma and critical incident trauma in first responders), anxiety disorders and burnout syndrome. I also work with clients facing a major life phase adjustment (welcoming a child, ending fertility treatments, moving, retiring, etc.) who may also be grieving a loss (of a parent, spouse, friend, etc.). My approach is collaborative, tailored to each client’s goals, and integrates EMDR Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy. I partner with other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care. In addition to my clinical work, I have authored Effective Treatment of Women’s Pelvic and Sexual Pain Disorders: Healing the Body and Mind in the #MeToo Era (Routledge, 2023) and co-authored Master Conflict Therapy: A New Model for Practicing Couples & Sex Therapy (Routledge, 2018). I have also published articles in Counseling Today (American Counseling Association) and Contemporary Sexuality (AASECT). I frequently speak at local and national events on topics including couples and sex therapy integration, sexual and pelvic pain, and sexual trauma. |
