Clinical & Academic Background • Current Roles: CPP Specialist and MIGS Surgeon at the Orlando VA Healthcare System; Professor of OBGYN at the University of Central Florida; Program Director for the Orlando VA Minimally Complex Benign Gynecology Fellowship. • Fellowship Training: Completed an AAGL-approved fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, with a dedicated focus on chronic pelvic pain. • Residency & Medical School: OBGYN Residency at Rochester General Hospital in NY; M.D. from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, Colombia. IPPS Leadership & Service As a deeply active member of the IPPS community, Dr. Carrillo serves in several key leadership capacities and is recognized as one of the society's first IPPS Pelvic Pain Specialty Designees. • Chairman of the Board, IPPS (2026-2031) • Co-Director of the IPPS Clinical Foundations Course (5 years) Health Professions Education & Research Driven by a passion for adult learning, Dr. Carrillo has advanced training in health’s professions education, including a Dean’s Teaching Fellowship and a Master’s in Health Professions Education (MHPE) from the University of Maastricht (The Netherlands). He actively integrates evidence-based adult learning theories into all of his teaching to enrich educational environments and maximize knowledge retention for healthcare professionals.
